Rising Still From times that I have fallen some forgave but cant forget. They see me through yesterday and Im still rising yet. Rising from mistakes I made and from my man made hell. Rising from the place I laid the place I know so well. Each day like a ladder rung I climb a little higher. Still I cant look them in the eye and say they are a liar. They stood in the shadows and prayed that I would fail. They laughed and celebrated each time that I fell. They all stood together while I stood all alone. Now they sing the story of each mistake I own. They dont see the years go by they dont see me change. If it were only up to them. My life would never rearrange. Have they become my enemy? Or life tried to break my will? No matter how they might try they cant stop my rising still. Edwin C Hofert
