RiverView Kiwanis will be showing The Great Raid tonight at 7:00 at the Gateway Theater in Wenatchee. 100% of proceeds will be used to support Riverviews Washington Park Improvement project. The greatest rescue raid in U.S. history took place 69 years ago today. Planned and led by U.S. Army Ranger Captain Robert Prince, the raid on the Japanese POW camp at Cabanatuan in the Phillipines rescued over 500 Allied troops. Robert Prince (depicted in the film by James Franco) went on to a 40-year career as a Wenatchee fruit broker and leader in Wenatchees fruit industry. The Washington Park Improvement project is dedicated to the memory of this local hero. Tickets are $15, available at the door. The movie is rated R for war violence. Bill Asplund and Wes Hensley will be speaking about Robert Prince, the events of the raid, and the Washington Park project at 6:00 in the VIP lounge (must be 21+ to enter the VIP lounge). Come join us!
