Riverwalk Phase II Update Rain, Rain, Go AWAY, Why all of the delays? Well… a good part of that has been due to the heavy afternoon showers. This has been flooding the jobsite preventing the contractor from getting their compaction requirements to install the base and asphalt for the trail. The contractor is doing work where possible. One area that has been getting a lot of attention is in front of the entrance of the Central Florida Regional Hospital. The City of Sanford, Seminole County and the hospital have met and discussed providing an overlook in front of the hospital. This will allow connectivity to the Riverwalk, the hospital and to the downtown area. During the July City Commission meeting a change order was passed to install a cantilevered overlook and crosswalk. The cantilevered section of the trail will overhang the wall by four feet, with shade structures and seating for the area. In the future, during the Phase III portion of the project, a connection will be built that will connect the trail to S.R. 46, the AMTRAK AutoTrain, Sunrail and the Mall -- Big things coming for the City of Sanford. For now we hope for sunny days!
