Ro Man Tic Ive always wanted to do a Romance Feature film and for 10 years Ive read hundreds of scripts that were so ordinary and similar, and really werent about romance and love. This week - that changed! Actually I wrote the story, and the script is developing. Ive pitched the story to a few people and the held back excitement has excited me. No one wants to go Oh yeah baby to a romance pitch, but you can tell by the sound of a persons voice and their first question! I posted on my facebook stream a call for a Co-Leading Actress and have had one reply. Ive decided, where my work in Aus is concerned, Ill spec scripts to actors to take advantage of their strengths, and commitment. Something we seriously lack in Aus. So my two leading role are, at this stage, filled. However I do have some additional roles and Im opening up for submissions of interest. Please be aware, expression of interest is not a guarantee of selection. Or being specd! I am looking for - a Mother and Father of the 2nd lead actress. They should be in the age range of say 55 to 70. - a sister or brother for the 2nd leading actress. Lets say aged late 20s to late 30s. - a Best Friend for the leading actress. Female, aged 25 to 40. Any nationality. I plan on shooting a little teaser trailer to introduce the leading characters and some doubt within the audience. I want to know ultimately if my audience will buy into the story and characters. Those Ive consulted say yes. However if Romance was so easy, everyone would be doing it all the time. and thats not the case. I estimate a shooting date to be late February. for 2 or 3 days. Most people will only be required for one day. Oh and Im looking for two locations: 1: A family home. Elegant, stylish, modern. In Sydney. 2: An apartment in a high rise with a balcony, Im not concerned about the view so much as long as its not a brick wall! Although that could work :) Be aware, if you commit to the short film you WILL have to commit to the feature film. I totally loath recasting characters mid story line, and my audience expects commitment anyway. If you dont think youll be wanting to act in a years time, please dont apply! I dont want to re-shoot the short, and the time between is important as it forms part of the story line. Feel free to contact me if you require. :)
