Roadrunners Walk-Off Winners Against Cats EDINBURG, Texas— Fernando De Los Santos hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th inning helping the Edinburg Roadrunners defeat the Fort Worth Cats 7-6 Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. The game was tied at six until the bottom of the 11th inning when the Roadrunners (13-17) loaded the bases for De Los Santos who hit the walk-off single scoring Trevor Whyte from third. The win snapped Edinburg’s four-game losing streak. The Cats (19-11) got the scoring started in the top of the first with a Shelby Ford RBI double that drove in Aljay Davis from first making it 1-0. The Roadrunners answered in the bottom of the first with a two-out RBI single by Dan Coury that allowed Agustin Septimo to score tying the game at one. Davis regained the lead for the Cats in top of the second with an RBI single that allowed Ryan Miller to score making it 2-1. Carlton Salters led off the bottom of the second with a double to left center and then stole third. A wild pitch then allowed Salters to come in and score to tie the game. Later in the inning with runners at first and second, Bobby Rinard hit an RBI double that scored Ryde Rodriguez from second. Then, Septimo drove in Trevor McDonald with an RBI groundout giving the Roadrunners the 4-2 lead. Edinburg got an RBI single from Salters in the bottom of the third and an RBI double from Wes Patterson in the bottom of the fourth extending their lead 6-2. The Cats took advantage of three errors in the top of the sixth and scored four runs tying the game at six and knocking out Roadrunners’ starter Curtis Camili, who received the no-decision after striking out seven in five and two-third innings. Damian Seguen (2-0) picked up the win after pitching two scoreless innings while Trevor Longfellow (0-1) took the loss for the Cats after allowing the run in the 11th. The Roadrunners and Cats will play the third game of their four-game series Monday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Tuesday’s series finale will be Driscoll Health Plan Night and RC Cola & 7Up Twofer Tuesday where select food items and drinks will be $2.
