Robbers invade boutique in Bayelsa, shoot two. There was pandemonium on Wednesday in Amarata Yenagoa, Bayelsa State as gunmen stormed a popular boutique on Mbiama-Yenagoa Road, shooting two store attendants. PUNCH Metrolearnt that the sporadic shooting in the area created apprehension as people fled in different directions for safety. When our correspondent visited the boutique on Thursday, a shop attendant, who identified herself simply as Favour, gave the names of the injured attendants as Edwin and Orji. An eyewitness said the bandits gained access to the male section of the boutique about 8.30pm, posing as customers. An attendant at the female-clothing unit of the boutique, said the robbers shot one of the storekeepers at the waist while the other shopkeeper was shot at his lower abdomen. She said, “One of the boys resisted him and in the process, the robbers pulled the trigger and shot two of them. Immediately after shooting them, they fled.” Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, Mr. Alex Akhigbe, confirmed the report. Akhigbe said the police had commenced investigations into the development. He said, “The attackers did not take anything away from the boutique. A shot was fired and two attendants were injured.”
