Robbery Squad detectives report the arrest of two men and a woman from Hempstead for a robbery that occurred in Uniondale on Monday, 09/30/13 at 12:55 A.M. According to detectives, Jonathan Chappell, 22, of 351 Jackson St., armed with a shotgun, approached a male victim who was standing on Edgemere Ave./Linwood St., and demanded the victim’s cell phone. The victim complied and the defendant then went through the victim’s pockets and removed cash. The subject fled the scene in a 1996 Chevy Blazer occupied by co-defendants Jamel Williams, 28, and Miriam Khalifah, 31, both of 198 Princeton St. First Precinct Police officers located the vehicle on Jerusalem Ave./Henry St. in Hempstead where they were placed under arrest. The shotgun was recovered in the auto. No injuries were reported. Subsequent investigation connected Chappell and Williams to an attempted robbery that occurred on 09/19/13 at 2:15 A.M. on Lawrence St. in Uniondale. All three defendants are each being charged with Robbery 1st Degree. Chappell and Williams are additionally being charged with Attempted Robbery 1st Degree. Chappell is also being charged with Criminal Use Firearm 1st Degree and Criminal Possession Weapon 3rd Degree. The defendants will be arraigned on Tuesday, 10/01/13 in First District Court, Hempstead.
