Robert Frost is one of my favorite American poets because his words are blunt and straightforward, they light up the image in my mind in the short blink of my eye. I remember my first American teacher Mr John gave us this poem to learn by heart and so I did. I embedded it into my heart and this morning it came to visit me. Among the few moments I had with my father as a child, the poem befriended us. I recited it to him as he dragged me on the sleigh on a snowy road on a sunny but frozen Romanian day. As I gazed at the trail the sleigh left behind us and counted the footsteps of my Dad, I learned how to capture a moment of pure happiness, I put it away for safekeeping and only take it out in dire straits. Enjoy these wonderful words my friends, and always remember the sheer blissful moments that make you who you are! I still have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep! Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost Whose woods these are I think I know. His house is in the village, though; He will not see me stopping here To watch his woods fill up with snow. My little horse must think it queer To stop without a farmhouse near Between the woods and frozen lake The darkest evening of the year. He gives his harness bells a shake To ask if there is some mistake. The only other sounds the sweep Of easy wind and downy flake. The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.
