Robert Pattinson just had his 28th birthday on May 13 and that officially makes him old! Hey, Im not saying that. Hes still a whipper snapper to me. But Rob thinks hes old. At least for Twilight. He told Variety that hes now officially too old to play the love-lorn sparkly vampire Edward. Rob broke the news this way: I couldnt do another Twilight movie. Im too old. Well, that about sums it up! And I guess given that vampires dont age, you couldnt really explain why and how Edward suddenly looks like hes on the cusp of middle age. Of course, Rob still looks quite young. He could pass for a high school student. Or maybe the father of one anyway. Haha. Kidding. Rob, you look fab! There is another book that could come to the screen, Midnight Sun, which is a retelling of Twilight from Edwards point of view. Guess Rob doesnt want the role. It would be pretty awkward if he and Kristen were to star in that anyway -- considering how their real life romance ended. But who else could possibly play those parts? Any time classic movies are remade with younger people in the lead roles (think Footloose or Carrie), its never very good. Rob also told Variety that no one thought Twilight would turn out to be so big -- he said: No one thought it was going to be a big deal. Hmm. Sounds like Rob was living in a bubble. The Twilight books were pretty huge before the film. I didnt even read them and yet I knew there was big anticipation for the movies.
