Robert Plant may be a rock ‘n roll icon, but the Led Zeppelin legend says the Grateful Dead had something he never had: Deadheads. In an interview with USA Today published on Sunday, the 66-year-old rock star gave a shout out to the psychedelic California band’s loyal following, while simultaneously coveting the freedom the Dead had as a band. They had such a huge following because they were coming from a place that, even though it was from an altered state, it was definitely real. …That is what I want. The singer also seemed to be looking at an hourglass as he said explained the current state of his career. “I hear the sound of time roaring past me, and there is no time to lose,” he said. He called his newer “world music” sound “appropriate for this time in my life.”
