Robert has a question for all your California servers: I am a server at a restaurant in California. I received an email from my manager a few days ago saying that beginning in the next week or so, credit card tips would no longer be paid at the end of service. Credit card tips would now be paid on our paychecks. He said it was a new law in California. We would still be allowed to keep our cash tips however, being a tip pool operation it was recommended that we turn the cash over to the house as the amount would be so small it probably wouldnt be worth the time or effort of dividing the cash tips amongst ourselves. I cant find anything on line about this law in California and was wondering if you or any of your followers would know anything about this.
