Roberts post about Grant from 3 hours ago. Please continue to pray for him. Dear Friends, So sorry for the cryptic message I sent earlier today. Here is a synopsis of what our day has been like and where we are now: Grant Reed had lab work done this morning. After labs, we went to lunch. While we were eating, Grant received a phone call. It was from the transplant center. They told Grant that a liver had become available and he was the stand-by recipient if it did not work for another patient. We were asked to return to the hospital for some more blood work and to wait on word from the liver team. The surgeon came in to talk to us and said that if we were able to get the liver for Grant, he thought it would be advisable to go ahead with the transplant. As you know, we had been thinking with Grants improved scores, that we might be able to avoid the transplant all together. The surgeon and the liver doctor both agreed that Grants liver will need to be replaced sometime in the future and this was a very good opportunity. After calling Sharon, Grant made the tearful decision to go for the transplant. We returned to the waiting room. After about 45 minutes, Todd, our transplant coordinator, came in and told us that the liver had been claimed by another center for a patient who was more critical than Grant. Needless to say, this was tremendously disheartening. So, we are back at the apartment. Still in a bit of shock. I know many of you sent prayers our way and we thank you so much. It looks like we will be staying in Memphis for at least 2 more weeks in order for them to continue to monitor Grants progress. I still believe in Gods plan. I still believe in the miracle of Grants recovery. I still believe. — with Chandler Reed and 2 others in Memphis, Tennessee.
