Robin Williams-Ray asked: Did Jesus have freewill? I thought this question deserved its own thread. Yes Jesus did have freewill as do all of the intelligent creations that Jehovah created. When Jehovah made Jesus into flesh/human; Jesus could have sinned but as per Jesus own words: “Father, if you want to, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, let, not my will, but yours take place.” -Luke 22:42 see also: (Matthew 6:10) Let your Kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also on earth. (Matthew 26:39) And going a little way forward, he fell facedown, praying: “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me. Yet, not as I will, but as you will.” (Mark 14:36) And he said: “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you; remove this cup from me. Yet, not what I want, but what you want.” (John 5:30) I cannot do a single thing of my own initiative. Just as I hear, I judge, and my judgment is righteous because I seek, not my own will, but the will of him who sent me. (John 6:38) for I have come down from heaven to do, not my own will, but the will of him who sent me. So Jesus had his own will but chose to do his Gods will. This is key to the ransom sacrifice because Jesus had to prove that Adam could have also chosen to NOT sin. Adam could have remained faithful to God. The fact that Jesus did remain faithful to God, means that he now gained back all that Adam lost. And could pass on that inheritance to those who choose to worship his God by following him. If Jesus could not sin, then the whole experience of his life and death as a human was a sham and worthless. That would mean that he never PROVED faithful nor never really died.... thus there was no ransom paid and there is no hope for salvation for anyone. This is one point that those who think Jesus is God do not think about. If Jesus was God, then he did NOT die..... no ransom was paid (one cannot pay a ransom to themselves anyways) and there is no salvation. It was all a lie.
