Robin Williams death has had a profound affect on my life. The - TopicsExpress

Robin Williams death has had a profound affect on my life. The news of his suicide has brought up a lot of old feelings that I have finally come to terms with. My thoughts immediately turned to his family and especially children whom now have to live with the stigma of suicide in such a public way. I thank God for public forums in which I have connected with some pretty amazing people. All of whom survived a suicide within their own families. We were not surprised by the outpouring of love for such an amazing actor and humanitarian. What we were surprised by was that there is still such a stigma about suicide. Public figures including a certain member of the rock group Kiss felt it was his duty to publicly voice his opinion on suicide. I truly feel sorry for Robin Williams family who have to not only mourn their loved one but publicly be ridiculed by the media and media figures. I truly wish people would get their facts before they open their big egotistical mouths and have more compassion for the loved ones left behind. On another note I had the privilege to meet and greet Mr. Williams several years ago while he was on his comedy tour. It was probably one of the few times I stood in awe of a celebrity. He was kind, genuine and left a profound impression on my life. I have always been a huge fan of his movies but more so of his work with the USO and especially my beloved St Judes Children Hospital. While our interaction was brief he made you feel as if you were the only person in the room. It will always be a memory that I cherish for the rest of my life. Mr. Williams you will most definitely be remembered for your life and body of work. Your movies and comedy have been such a gift to my life and to the world. Thank you for the laughter, tears and smiles.
