Robin has a wood burning heater out here on the patio. Looking at the heater, smelling the wood burning reminds me of a very small house in North Gadsden. A small house that my Daddy and PawPaw built for us with their bare hands. All the sweat, long hours and hard work and love for his family, my Daddy built that house into a home. I remember going out in the woods in the winter time to cut wood for that wood burner. Since I was a kid, the sound of a chainsaw and the smell of wood reminds me of him. He worked hard and sacrificed his own health to provide for us. Thinking back now I can smell the breakfast my Mom cooked for us. With 9 kids and a husband to feed she would cook over a hot stove and then stand back while all of us were fed and it was after that she would eat. As a child I never paid it much attention, but now that Im grown I understand. She put everything that was in her to make us safe, fed, healthy, happy and loved. I have not known 2 people in my whole life like my parents. They didnt have much, but what they had went into us kids. I slept, cried, laughed and loved in that small house with that wood burning heater. We were punished when needed, but we always knew that they loved us. We may not have been the best dressed kids in school, but that was ok too. We didnt have colored tv or the latest toys. At Christmas we got one gift each and were happy with what we got. Everything about living in that house and being raised without everything a kid could wish for, made me the hard working woman that I am today. I would go back in a heartbeat if I could. Momma and Daddy, I miss you both and I know now what you both sacrificed for us and I am proud to have been your child. With Tim Pentecost John R.
