Robocop remake review: Ive let it digest and overall it was an enjoyable film. However, is it as good as the original? No. The original was unique and fun with so much mayhem and humor its memorable. The bad guy in the original made you hate him by the horrific things him and his crew did to Murphy along the way. The remake had more of a beating heart when it came to his family and son, something the original threw away. The thing that lacked to me was the wanting to hate Jackie Earle Haley, Michael Keaton and the bad drug guy that isnt memorable in the least. I just dont think its possible for me to loathe Keaton and Jackie just didnt do enough bad things for me to want to despise him. As a stand alone it has a lot of heart and Gary Oldman did a fantastic job as did the guy who played Robocop and of course Sam Jackson was great. I say give it a watch and make up your own mind. Id love to see a sequel that isnt based off of the original number 2 and see where they could go with it. Thoughts?
