Robotics was a blast on Saturday at the community center in Dickinson. We assemble the robot and finished the tower and just started on the arm. This was our first test run after switching our failed attempt at using swivels for the front wheels. We learned that they did not turn as well as we had hoped, but the robot had enough power to force itself forward even when the wheels were faced in the wrong direction. We swapped out our front swivel for a ski based design and placed pvc L bent pipes on each end to make sure they wouldnt catch on any objects we went over. The wheels were also to large in the rear and caused and uneven weight balance and a wheel response causing it to wheelie often. We decided to name it Evil Knievel. Of course we had to fix this problem, therefor we cut up to and inch and a half off and screwed on some of the rubber of a 24 inch bike tire we cut up and placed on them to help get up and over the bridge. The battery also has its own compartment now so it no longer falls off. Now the arm is nearly finished as you can see in the second video. I think Killdeer is going to have a competitive Robotics team this year! Thanks for all of the support guys I hope our Team will continue to grown through out the years even after I graduate. Thank you to all of our sponsor for letting us compete in this years composition.
