Rochester Hills— Crittenton Hospital Medical Center laid off the equivalent of 24 full-time positions Tuesday, but wouldn’t say exactly how many workers were affected, or in what kinds of jobs. Chief Strategy Officer Michelle Hornberger said the jobs were eliminated as part of a new cost-cutting strategy. About 1.6 percent of the hospital’s 1,338 full-time equivalents were laid off. That means 24.1 FTEs were eliminated — but a larger number of employees lost their jobs because part-timers were among those who were laid off. The reductions were made across the board, she said. “Crittenton continues to aggressively pursue plans to improve efficiencies, achieve financial stability and prepare the organization for the future,” Hornberger said in a statement emailed to The Detroit News. “Several strategic initiatives are being implemented to reduce the total cost of care for the communities we serve. Another proof that Obamacare is bad!
