Rock on, Anderson County Sheriff John Skipper!!! THANK YOU for putting Mr. Francis Crowder and the rest of his entourage in their place during the last council meeting! Its time for Anderson County Councilman Crowder and his cohorts to find something more productive to do rather than being ignorant to the Sheriffs and the Countys needs... Two thumbs up! (Photos courtesy of the Anderson Independent-Fail Newspaper) Anderson County Council member Francis Crowder made a move last week to remove the central 911 dispatch center and its employees from the supervision of Sheriff John Skipper...... I’m willing to take input on my budget from the council, and I’m trying to play nice, Skipper said. But, once the council tells me what my bottom line is on money, the reality is that I am an elected official, and I get to decide how the money is spent. ....Skipper defended his use of funds, defended his own finance staff, and then said that the way he is spending money is not in any way jeopardizing his dispatchers or staffing in general. State law says an elected official can move money as he sees fit, Skipper said. The reality is I control the budget once you give me that number at the top. Once you approve my budget, I have X number of dollars in my budget for a given year and I can spend it. Crowder was unsupportive of Skipper’s assessment, and said he was surprised by some of the things the sheriff said and the way he handled the situation. You may disagree with it, Skipper told Crowder. But, you might need to talk to your lawyer. ~ Above excerpts from the Anderson Independent-Fail Newspaper youtu.be/qzuGDxJ0wTs
