Roger Terry, in his book Economic Insanity, says, "The Americans know that there is a problem in America, but they do not know what it is, or why it is. More importantly, they do not know how to correct that problem. All they can do is to point at symptoms of the disease...In reality some of what are named solutions only make the problem worse, because these solutions attempt to change the results of the system without changing the system which has led to those results...The problem does not include the question of how we implement our economic system, for our economic system itself is the problem. The problem is in the foundational structure of our economic system, and partial solutions or bandaging the consequences is not a solution that will deal with the problem. If we want to reach our standards then we must weed out the problems from their roots and not merely clip some leaves. It is upon us to assess the foundations and assumptions on which our system is built and to expose it for what it really is."
