Role model & mentor - is there a difference ! Was checking books on Amazon. Came across two I liked: 1. Help Them Grow or Watch Them Go - Career Conversations Employees Want 2. Managers As Mentors: Building Partnerships for Learning Paperback My life has not been amongst the upper rungs of supposed to be facilitation at any stage of my life. Yet, was a trainer & a facilitator for a good 16 yrs of mine to / for - absolute front line problem solvers. I was fascinated with Ricardo Semler & purchased his book: Maverick! : The Success Story Behind the Worlds Most Unusual Workplace no sooner it was published, long yrs ago. He & I are not connected at all by any means in this day & age. Hailing from an aviation background Sir. Richard Branson has been a role model by deliberate choice & if one could guess how things happen - when allowed by default. Have read his books, not personally connected and as time progressed he occupies the position of - role model #2. If youve heard & its true too the meaning of these words that follow: The teacher appears when the student is ready. I searched because I was ready and then found my role model #1 with whom I have a personal relationship. He changed my outlook & my life. He gave me value to my self. And thats the role of a mentor. And so in five minutes from now Ill be sharing two crazy pictures of my role models # 2 & #1.
