“Roma Nun was as wrong as the Teacher” A Nun vows to - TopicsExpress

“Roma Nun was as wrong as the Teacher” A Nun vows to imitate Christ who for our sake became poor, although he was rich. She gives up the right to control or benefit from personal property in order for her to live independently in the community and devote her service to God. This oath to poverty entails that she must be free to serve others (in this case the teacher). Nuns also vow to Chastity so that she can only be ‘married’ to Jesus and give him all her love. One of the greatest commandments that a nun should exhibit is to love “your neighbor as yourself”. The vow of obedience leads a nun to imitate obedience of Jesus Christ. As a member of her religious community, she searches for the will of God, not in arbitrary commands, but in prayerful reflection and dialogue with others. From the three vows (obedience, chastity, poverty) that nuns swear to, its conclusive that the nun acted in a manner ‘less of an earthly’ representative of God. She let her emotions anger; materials, power and authority corrupt her. Instead of serving the poor teacher, and be obedient to God in serving the poor or those who ‘have not’ among us she let her mean behavior override purpose of serving God. Where is the humane, compassionate, kindness, love, and humility that nuns vow to uphold? According to the records and those who have personally interacted with her most have nothing good to write about. She’s known as a mean, corrupt, unkind, and very difficult person to deal with. This is a nun who is supposed to serve God. Others have gone as far as describing her as an astute reflection of a ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’. However, this is typical of most nuns and Catholic run institutions a fact that most mission schools or hospital trained personnel can attest to. This single incident nonetheless should not overshadow many great works done by dedicated nuns, priests and men of the cloth in catholic run instructions. The nun should have been by the Teachers side, support him emotionally and spiritually especially that the cause of failure to settle a monthly rental was due a MOE technicality which is been worked on. As both a school administrator and representative of God locking the house was an oversight, ungodly and miscalculated. Unfortunately, this DOES NOT in any way guarantee the ‘MIKE TYSON’ wonna be teacher the right to pounce on her (nun) and subject her to such humiliation. I strongly condemn his action as cowardice, unreasonable, and short of any man tasked with responsibility to inculcate good morals in our children. There are better ways of conflict resolution than violence. At all times dialogue remains at the core of any conflicts. Despite all this the nun has received more sympathy and less condemnation because the case has evolved from being one of mere violence (Teacher) and injustice (Nun) to GBV, hence the multitude of NGOS and individuals attacking the teacher.
