Romans 5:12-19 5:12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world - TopicsExpress

Romans 5:12-19 5:12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death came through sin, and so death spread to all because all have sinned- 5:13 sin was indeed in the world before the law, but sin is not reckoned when there is no law. 5:14 Yet death exercised dominion from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sins were not like the transgression of Adam, who is a type of the one who was to come. 5:15 But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died through the one mans trespass, much more surely have the grace of God and the free gift in the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abounded for the many. 5:16 And the free gift is not like the effect of the one mans sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brings justification. 5:17 If, because of the one mans trespass, death exercised dominion through that one, much more surely will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness exercise dominion in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. 5:18 Therefore just as one mans trespass led to condemnation for all, so one mans act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all. 5:19 For just as by the one mans disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one mans obedience the many will be made righteous. *************************************** Romans is certainly a controversial book. almost every Christian denomination points to its words and their interpretation of them for the reason they exist. In verse 18 we are told the act of one man made us all bad, but the act of one man ( Jesus) made us all good. In Romans 8 we are told nothing keeps us from the Love of God. Nothing. I have a friend whose assessment of how we are saved comes to....when we die, there is God and he asks one question.... re you coming?. I really do believe that it is that simple. But that grace does not give us an excuse to carry on Willy Nilly here on earth. Because we keep getting that same question here. Are you coming? Will you keep doing it your way, will you be your own God or will you let God be God. Scripture tells us that if we know, more is required. so today, you are being asked right now are you coming? This is not a call to more religious activity or more morality...it is a call to be as innocent as we can muster, to always do the right thing as we understand it, to let God be God and to want to hang out with him all we can. so .....Are you coming?
