Romans needed a system of thought, one philosophy, one religion to unite their expanding empire; one nation with one religion, that was simple enough for everyone to understand. They started with Judaism as the key ingredient, mixed it with Plato and Aristotle and some mysticism to make Christianity. Than they persecuted the Jews to cover their tracks. Islam is a split branch from these early tries. Now the Romans are long gone but we have to deal with the consequences; their wars, their issues on women and all their fundamentalism. Right?
