Rooney WILL consider joining Arsenal... but only if dream £30m move to Chelsea falls through Wayne Rooney will consider moving to Arsenal if his dream to work with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea falls through. Manchester United are refusing to sell Rooney to a potential title rival, but the striker still wants to quit Old Trafford. Although Chelsea are first choice, the England forward would move to Arsenal if David Moyes and the United board resist Mourinho’s next offer. Arsenal first put the feelers out for Rooney, who will be 28 this year, when he was controversially named as a substitute for United’s Champions League tie second leg at home to Real Madrid in March. Incredibly, Arsenal have indicated that his mind- blowing salary demands can be met. Rooney earns £240,000 a week and has two years left on his contract, but Arsenal will break their pay structure and offer him five years on £200,000 a week. Chelsea remain the frontrunners after an official bid of £23million, plus £2.5m in additional clauses, was made last week. After his hamstring injury, Rooney is training at United’s Carrington training base, hoping the two clubs can reach an agreement. His wife Coleen is happy to relocate to London with their children for the benefit of his career. Mourinho’s star quality is one of the factors drawing Rooney to Chelsea, but he also respects Arsene Wenger. The England forward, who could be fit to play within the next two weeks, has been told Arsenal manager Wenger will build his team around him. That suits Rooney after he was pushed into the sidelines by Sir Alex Ferguson and his status in the United team appears no clearer under new boss David Moyes. Rooney has had telephone conversations with Moyes and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward after it emerged the striker was ‘angry and confused’ about his role. Chelsea are preparing to make an increased offer for Rooney, but there is an upper limit of £30m all-in for the striker. If United refuse to sell to Chelsea then Arsenal will be encouraged to make a move before the deadline. ~Paul~ #Rooney #CFC #ChelseaFC #Transfers Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook
