Root Karbonn Smart Tab 8 & 10 – Make It Lag-Free Karbonn – yet another brand flourishing in India and a strong competitor of Micromax when you consider their sales of Android smartphones. The Karbonn Smart Tab that has been launched by the company in two different variations – 8 and 10 seems to be pretty good for users who need more features at low cost. However, from the feedback we received from friends and readers, we have noticed that quite a lot of users are facing an issue with the tablet. It’s laggy. Poor performance and does not deliver a good number of frames when required or does not respond to input sometimes. If you are one among them, this post if for you. In this post, I’ll tell you how to root Karbonn Smart tab 8 and 10 (yes it voids your device warranty but the service center guys won’t be able to make it lag-free anyway) and a tweak which will make your device lag-free. This is possible because of the open source nature of Android – you get a cheap device and make it perform much better with some customization that can be done on the open source OS. The tweaks have been applied to a Stock ROM which can be flashed via recovery to make it lag-free and root it after flashing. The features of the modified ROM are: It’s the Modified Stock ROM which is flashable through Stock Recvoery. Bloatware Removed. Init.d Tweaks enabled. Governor Tweaks added. Touch Screen Tweaks added. Much faster than the Stock ROM. More Internal Memory and RAM available. Runs HD Games much smoother. Pre-Rooted. Internal External Memory Swapped. Much efficient in Battery handling. We recommend you to backup everything using our backup guide. Please note that this process will void the warranty of your device and we are not responsible if your device faces any damage during this process. Flash the Modified Stock ROM (Only for Smart Tab 10) You can skip this and directly proceed to rooting if you wish to. Download the ROM zip file and copy it to your SD card. Turn off your device Boot it into recovery mode. If you don’t know the button combinations, you can use the Quick Boot Reboot app. After you enter into recovery mode, select wipe data/factory reset. Now select “Apply Update from EXT” and flash the zip file you downloaded in Step 1. Go back and select “Reboot system now”. Root Karbonn Smart Tab 8 & 10 To root your device, download this zip file and copy it to your device’s SD card. Flash it just like how you flashed the ROM. You don’t need to wipe anything in recovery mode – just flash the zip and reboot. Once your device boots up, check for the Superuser app. If it exists, your device is rooted. To make the device lag-free, ankit says: Install SetCPU app Download the file Setcpu.txt from here Paste it into the root of your SD Card Open SetCPU, first change the governor from “conservative” to “performance2″(This is the most important thing) Click on options button(three dots) and then click Device Selection Select Custom Frequencies Now Set Min frequency to 48 MHz and Max frequency to anything according to your preference(Now you’ll have the choice of setting the frequency upto 1.5 GHz) When you wan’t to conserve more battery lower the Max Frequency(while browsing or listening to music maybe) and when playing HD games up the Max Frequency(Most games will run perfectly with even 1200 MHz) Note:-48MHz of Min frequency will give more battery in in standby mode. And now you call play games like Dead Trigger on Ultra High graphics settings without lag on 1.4 or 1.5 GHz. Try not to Clock the CPU above 1.2 GHz for a long time as it could cause heat issues.
