Roots of Rain Parade at Barrington Hall in 1980. The Screaming - TopicsExpress

Roots of Rain Parade at Barrington Hall in 1980. The Screaming Statues were a short lived band from the infamous Barrington Hall in Berkeley. Led by Ken Salter, the band existed during fall quarter 1980, practicing in the dining room but never playing out. It included, most notably, Steven Roback, who would go on to the Rain Parade a year later. This was his first band and he was learning bass guitar and writing his first songs. In addition to Steven and Ken, the band featured Jesse Hoffs (rhythm guitar), Andrew Clay (lead guitar) and Dave Nelson (Drums) This song, written and sung by Steven, stands out as a wonderful prelude of what was to come with Rain Parade. This crude recording was made at a practice session with Steven on vocals and myself on bass. A notable Paisley Underground precursor, ithas never been heard before outside of the walls of Barrington Hall..
