Rosie visited again yesterday for a treatment and having received - TopicsExpress

Rosie visited again yesterday for a treatment and having received permission from her mum Jane, I would like to share Rosie’s Story. Jane found Rosie wandering along a road in Alice Springs back in August 2005. Rosie was only two months old, had been abandoned and was severely malnourished, so much so that she could not walk properly. Jane recalls in spite of Rosie not being strong and starving, she showed such a curious and adventurous spirit. Jane picked Rosie up intending to take her to the RSPCA as she was not set up to take on a 2 month old pup. However, the RSPCA was closed and after trying to feed her unsuccessfully (as she had digestive problems) Jane took Rosie to the Vet, the two built a bond over the weekend and so their history together began. In April of 2012, Rosie had an accident leaving her with a ruptured disc between the fourth and fifth vertebrae and her 2 back legs paralysed. Alice Springs vets could do nothing for her, so Jane & Rosie jumped on the next direct flight to a city – Melbourne, where Dr Peter Laverty, specialist vet surgeon for dogs with spinal injuries would try to help. He said it was a 50/50 chance that Rosie would walk again, but did a great job, giving Rosie the chance to learn to walk again with the help of the ‘Dogs in Motion’ hydrotherapy centre in Dandenong. Six months later after intensive swimming and underwater treadmill walking, Rosie was pretty much independent again. However, she suffers with severe arthritis in her back legs, nerve spasms, a twisted spine and limited use in her right back leg and has collapsed on occasions. You can read more about Rosie’s surgery on the link below: melbvet.au/html/s02_article/article_view.asp?keyword=Emergency-Spinal-Surgery Rosie visited me for her very first Bowen Therapy treatment in March 2014 and after assessing Rosie, I understandably found, her to have a very tight body all over, right back leg turning inward as she walked and dragged at times, not placing weight on her back legs fully, curved spine, walked with a twist from not placing weight on her back legs correctly, right back leg weak and left back leg tight, lots of nerve spasm in back legs and specific sore spots either side of her spine. After her first treatment, Rosie’s back soften and her neck and shoulder areas were more relaxed. Through the treatment Rosie was laying down licking me, yawning and totally relaxed, which was very unusual for her as she was always getting up and down normally due to her pain and not being able to settle. I treated Rosie regularly over the next 2 months and over that time Rosie’s back straighten to the point where she just had a slight curve left in her middle back, her shoulders, neck and muscles either side of her spine were all softer and she was able to bend her back legs for the first time since the accident and able to place weight on her right back leg, we even got a wag of her tail. Rosie returned for a treatment last week. Back on the mat and loving it! You may recall seeing her text comment to me (via her mum) that I posted after last week’s treatment. Rosie visited for another treatment this week and here is a little video of her the morning after having had another very restful long sleep.
