Rotary District 6910 Governor Anton Zelman visited our(Columbia County) Rotary Club this week. District 6910 is all of north Georgia stretching down to Columbia County. The District comprising of 72 deferent Rotary Clubs. From July through December Governor Zellman will visit all of these clubs. He started with quoting the current Rotary International theme, “Engage Rotary, Change Lives,” when he told the Columbia County club that “we’ve got to get the word out about the good that we do.” Zelman was speaking in the broad sense of the worldwide humanitarian work Rotarians do, including the global initiative to eradicate polio “End Polio Now”, and specifically about the work done locally by Rotary Club. A two-time cancer survivor of 17 years, Zellman spend much of his professional career as a magician, a mentalist, and in a number of sales-related positions in which he said “he was pitch man and could pitch anything.” Explaining that as a boy and young man, he didn’t know the meaning of “ethics,” but then explained that it wasn’t until he was introduced to the Rotary Four-Way Test that he learned the importance of being fair to people and of being honest. The Rotary Four-Way Test of the things we think, say, or do asks, “Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build good will and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?” Thank you for you visit.
