Rough one today at work. Started out with a full schedule, added 4 drop offs and a work in. Got splattered with debris from the back end early and had to change my shirt to a scrub top with holes in it (its in the trash now). Started making progress. Couldnt get notes from a case that had been to the ER THURSDAY night because the doctor hasnt finished the notes yet. Had a super frustrating consult with a client who is ready to euthanize a cat that potties (both ways) outside the box. However, the client has not done any diagnostics, the cat is uber fat (so cant clean herself), and the client has not tried more than two rescue groups. I cannot ethically euthanize a fat, but otherwise healthy appearing cat. That one got me literally crying...so frustrated for both the client and the cat (not to mention having to be put in such an awkward position). Get things moving along again. Then, woohoo, records from the ER! Grab them from the fax only to find that they are not the records that I need for the earlier case. Instead, it is a notification of euthanasia of my favoritest Peke ever to walk the earth. Had to literally burst out in tears when I read it. Finally left work THREE HOURS after closing, since we were so busy, plus I had to do all the lab results phone calls. Im pretty sure the calories didnt count when I let McMenamins make me a burger and fries and a hard cider. Boy, am I glad that is not something I have to go through every Saturday!
