Round 1 Review. Round 1 of the J & M Racecraft 4 Cylinder Super at Lucas Oil Kingaroy Speedway has been Run and won and what a fantastic night racing it was. Racing was fast and furious with some of the best 4 Cylinder racing ever seen at Kingaroy in the past few years. 24 cars rolled out for grand parade with only Garry Harris missing with engine troubles. Round 1 saw Ben Stead and Cameron Taylor victorious in the first 2 heats, while Brendan Webber was the only causality after meeting the turn 3 wall. The final heat of the round saw Allen Schultz Street the field only to be robbed of victory on the final lap due to a flat tyre enabling Trent Dhu to cruise past for the win. Round 2 and it was a NSW trifecta with Warren Dhu leading home Trent Dhu and Matthew Claydon, the big story of the heat was Brock Hancock meeting the turn 3 wall heavily after what appeared to be mechanical failure. Brock would be out for the night. Hamish Redman would take out heat 5 setting a new lap record in the process, while Thomas Fuller decided to put on a show for the crowd by putting his car on its side on the infield at the exit of turn 2. Ben Stead would take his second victory of the night in heat 6, while Cameron Taylor set a new Lap Record beating the previous mark set by Redman in the previous Heat. The fast pace of the night had taken its toll after only 2 rounds with Webber and Hancock both out with damage, Midolo and Brown out with Mechanical failures, but the big story of the night was that Series Favourite Tim Weir was out with engine problems after only 2 races. Round 3 saw Hamish Redman and Cameron Taylor take 1 win each ensuring their place in the Super Six, while Matthew Claydon continued his strong run taking out heat 9 from James Elliott and Ben Stead. Allen Schultz retired after suspension failure would end his night early The Torquewear Super Six would see the top six drivers battle it out over 3 x 2 lap’s sprints for the Super Six Prize. Starting order would see Hamish Redman from Stead, Taylor, Elliott, Burke and Trent Dhu. What a cracker of a super six it was with side by side racing for all 3 races and the crown on its feet. Three separate winners were seen with Taylor, Elliott and Stead taking wins. Taylor finished with a win and two thirds giving him enough points to finish as the Super Six Winner for the night. The final would see a reverse grid 20 Lap event with passing points on offer. Thomas Fuller would lead the field away with Hamish Redman, Ben Stead, Cameron Tylor and James Elliott and making steady progress through the field. Fuller would lead until lap 11 when Elliott’s who had made his way to 5th from 15th, steering would break sending him into the turn 1 wall. Stead would also be out with rear suspension failure after moving to 7th from the back row of the grid. 3 Laps later Paul Redman would bring the race to a halt after losing a wheel. Fuller would still lead from Oliver and Pettigrew, with Taylor the big mover from the rear of the grid with Hamish Redman following. With seven laps to run the next 3 laps proved to be the deciding factor with Pettigrew, Redman and Taylor 3 wide for almost a lap. Redman came out the better taking the lead 3 laps later. Taylors heroic all or nothing moved on the outside proved to be his undoing leaving him to finish 5th. Meanwhile Pettigrew would fall victim to a spin with two laps remaining which left Dean Bourke with nowhere to go ending what had been a good night for the 55 machine. The ensuing final laps saw Aaron Know who had started 5th and drop as low as 11th place mid race pass Thomas Fuller at the checkered flag to take second in what can only be described as a stellar drive. Fuller Finished third across the line from Cameron Taylor and Trent Dhu. Hamish Redman left no doubt who would be the round winner after his super drive from the rear of the grid to win the final finishing on 64 points to take the Round from Cameron Taylor on 52 points. Aaron Knox would claim third for the round after finishing equal with Trent Dhu on 45 points. After lap times were considered Know would claim third by only .023 of a second. Knox would also add to his night’s collection by claiming the Ash Media Best Presented Car and Crew Award. Round 2 of the J & M Racecraft Super Series now heads to Fraser Shores Maryborough Speedway on the 22nd of November for the Armstrong Cabinets Round of the Series.
