Round 6 Hi all Round 6 is here and you will see the teams shortly. I just thought I’d let you know all the games and times. The Supers, Masters and 47s are playing home games at West Heidelberg this week. While the Over 52s are playing in their round robin format at Altona this Sunday starting at 11.00 am. The 47s are playing against the Peninsula Raiders starting at 11.00 am. Be there from 10.00 am onwards. The Masters are playing Hallam at 12.45 pm. Be there from 12.00pm onwards and The Supers are playing De La Salle at 2.45pm. Be there from 2.00 pm onwards. Another big weekend coming up for the club as it tries to back up last rounds efforts with all four teams winning. If you look at the ladders for the Supers, Masters and Over 47s it’s very nice viewing, seeing we occupy either 1st or second place in each of these grades. But there is still a mountain of work to be done before we can be satisfied with our efforts. This week marks another very significant milestone for another of our club stalwarts. Mick “Pittsy” Pitts plays his 150th game for the club. Any milestone is significant but this is truly a remarkable effort. Pittsy has been what a true clubman is all about. In the dark old days it wasn’t uncommon for Pittsy to play full games for both Masters and Supers on the one day, such was his commitment to the club. Up until recently, he has been an active committee member and has been a more than willing to help out wherever possible. Well done Pittsy. Don’t forget, Saturday July 20 is the clubs major function for the year with our Band Night. If you don’t recall we have booked a really hot cover band that will keep you on the floor all night. The cost is $30.00 per single of $50.00 for a double which includes finger food. If you want to avoid the long queues at the door on the night, you can pre book your tickets. We will be printing your tickets next week. If you wish to pre book, please contact either, James, George or myself. Our contact details are on the website or you can book via the clubs email address. We need to get as many of you there as possible so get in early to avoid disappointment. Lastly, back in April when we had our practice games at home, many of our players loaned their cherished Vic Metro jumpers. One jumper in particular has been accidently taken home by one of you. It’s from the Gold Coast carnival in 2001 and it belongs to Mal Griffiths. You probably don’t even know you have it so could you please on behalf of Mal have a look at the jumpers you have and see if you have this by mistake. I took the rest of the jumpers that were left behind so if you are missing one, I probably have it. Just let me know. Good luck for the weekend.
