Round in review : 1st Grade were away to St Virgils and returned to the winners list with a 6 wicket and much needed double bonus point win! Bowling first we bowled St Virgils out for 92 in 42 overs , Grahame Rowlands taking 3/22 off 10, John Ferguson 2/16 off 10 and Jessie Booth picking up great figures of 4/7 off just 3 overs. We made light work of the total, chasing it down in the 21st over with Fergy top scoring with 42 and Jeremy Lansdell 20*. 2nd Grade had a disappointing day going down to Sandford at Sorell. Bowling first we restricted Sandford to 8/184 off their 50, a total that despite the wet start to the day was well within our capabilities. Better bowlers were Jamie Booth 10 overs 2/18 and Shane Gilbert 3/48. But the chase did not go well, losing early wickets and then at regular intervals we failed to offer any resistance , except for Skipper Shane Gilbert who batted his way to top score of 34 which wasnt enough as we were eventually bowled out for a disappointing 88. 6th Grade also had a bad day, going down to Montagu Bay at home today. Batting first we were again in early trouble at 3/30 but worked our way to a very respectable 214 all out from 47. Top scorers were Robbie Iles 61, Brendan Kemp 38 and Michael Evans 35. The bowling was a different story however with our bowlers struggling to avoid the 1 bad ball per over and our fielding really letting us down in a very ordinary display. ( except for Tyler Aitkens brilliant direct hit run out) Things may have been different had we not dropped 12 catches that really took the game away from us but full credit to the opposition who took their chances and really made us pay, wrapping up a 6 wicket win with 3 overs to spare. Plenty of work to be done before our tilt at finals boys. RI
