Round nine swung on by last weekend with results good and bad. A Grade took on third place MCCC won the toss and decided to take to the field. After the first 24 overs the decision looked to be a good one as we held our catches and bowled tight to have the visitors under pressure at 7/66. Then a couple dropped catches and without time MCCC had put on 77 more without loss. The next 3 wickets fell quick leaving a total of 144 required on a slow ground and our boys realign at what couldve been. Zac Webb took his chance of opening the bowling to claim 3/28 from 10 and was well supported by Dane 2/13 and Harry 2/26. With the pads on a familiar site again rose and the boys were 4/24 after 13 overs leaving solid batting to come to secure the points. Big wick (39) and flappa (51 no) put on what was required for a 71 run stand and jiffy (28 no) promoted up the order bought the boys home to thankfully claim the win and second place in the mean time. Special mention to coach Hamilton who managed to put down two catches for the day and blind turn around another like the spirit of Tasmania. Lets hope he put the three dollars in the tin??? A Reserve travelled to the high school and took on top placed Beulah in a David and Goliath battle. The toss was always going to determine what time this game was going to finish and our boys were sent to the field. To our boys credit they bowled the visitors out in the 45 th over on a small ground. Beetle highlighted the list with 3/40 but was closely followed by josh aikman 3/55. With the bat wickets fell regularly with rat (21) , dan (14) and kell (10) the only ones to get into double figures and be bowled out for 69 in the 22nd over. B Grade had the bye this week.
