Routines, Ruts, and Rear View Mirrors. I am reading a little book - TopicsExpress

Routines, Ruts, and Rear View Mirrors. I am reading a little book that examines the decline and deaths of fourteen churches of several denominations and various locations in America. They were all alive and vibrant, once upon a time. They all had purpose and resolve, in the good ole days. They were alive, then. Their view was outward and their ministries were geared toward others. But as time went on, purpose was forgotten, their view turned inward, routines, ruts, and rituals became more important than the others they once ministered to. Change was disdained and discouraged because the old methods worked well in the Hay Day. So these fourteen churches, once alive, died a slow and dull death, and few came to the funerals. This can happen in your personal life. Dont let it. Keep your personal purpose clear. Focus on helping others. Dont waste your Today by living in your Yesterdays. Hay Days wont help you much Today. And for Heavens sake, get out of the Rut, change the Routine, and rip off the Rear View Mirror. That thing is only good for dwelling on the used to bes, admiring yourself, and causing a crash if you cant take your eyes off of it. Look through your front Windshield, for there you will find your future and a good Real Reason to Live. I am come that they might have Life, and have it more abundantly (John 10:10). Do good today.
