MEETING TONIGHT on Proposed Fracking Pipeline to run through Central Virginia, with plant in Wingina, at Rockfish Community Center, Rt. 151, Afton, VA. 7 PM. IMPORTANT as it will be drilling in the George Washington National Forest, cutting through pristine wilderness and Nelson County properties including the Monroe Institute, Rita Mae Browns property as it starts in West Virginia, and runs down to North Carolina. Already, residents have received notice of surveyors coming out to their properties within the next couple of weeks. So this is urgent! Fracking is related to earthquakes, poisons wells and aquifers for miles around with serious health problems for people and animals. But many of the ones we do know about are well-documented (1,2,3) for causing cancer, birth defects, and disorders of the nervous system. The same is true of many naturally occuring but highly toxic substances that are unearthed throughout the process.
