Rs. 1000 crore loss per day - due to Traffic Jams can be saved if you share this post today Following is the text of Email sent to Delhi Police Commissioner and all other senior police officers in Delhi Sir Yesterday due to rains there was black out of traffic lights in West Delhi causing miles of vehicles with no one in sight. It caused huge wastage of national resources. The amount of excess fuel burnt in traffic jams in one day could be Rs. 100 crores. The manpower hours lost in traffic jams would be more than 10 lacs man hours. The pollution that it caused would be more than the pollution caused in 10 years by vehicles challaned for not carrying pollution control certificates. There are lot of other losses traffic jams cause. I understand that there are LED lights which consume very less electricity. There are rechargeable battery cells that can take care of these traffic lights for days. There are solar batteries which can take care of power requirements for years without any power requirements. What is it that is missing in management of traffic lights. There are questions that circulates on internet. It is about questions that are asked from IAS candidates in interviews. One of the question is as under - The interviewer calls for coffee for the candidate. The coffee is put in front of the IAS candidate. He is asked - what is before you. He says tea and he is selected. According to me this question and answer was completely out of context. I expect a better and in context reply from Delhi Police. Why a vehicle which may not be causing any pollution but not carrying pollution under control certificate is challaned? Why Delhi Police officers responsible for Traffic are not punished for causing pollution due to traffic Jams?
