Rs. 5.80 lakhs distributed among 52 beneficiaries under NMPS in Srinagar SRINAGAR, JANUARY 29: District Development Commissioner Srinagar Er. Farooq Ahmad Shah distributed cheques worth Rs. 5.80 lakhs among the cattle farmers of District Srinagar for construction/ renovation of cattle sheds. This subsidy amount was distributed under NMPS (National Mission on Protein Supplements) a centrally sponsored scheme of Animal Husbandry Department. In all, 52 beneficiaries belonging to BPL & APL families have been benefited under this scheme. Speaking on the occasion, the District Development Commissioner appreciated this initiative of Animal Husbandry Department and stressed upon the farmers to adopt modern Animal Husbandry practices to boost their produce so that we reach self sufficiency. On the occasion, the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Srinagar, Dr. Riyaz highlighted the other income generating schemes of the Department and also gave a brief account of the incentives given to farmers of the district under the same scheme. The main purpose of this departmental scheme is to boost Milk production in the District to reach the level of self sufficiency. This year till date the district has produced 65 thousand metric tons of milk. The additional District Development Commissioner and Joint Director Planning were also present in the function.
