Rudy hurt his rear leg. He was at the dog park playing nicely with a lab, and I think he got stepped on while at the same time trying to run, and I saw him twist his leg awkwardly. He gave a out a series of several very loud and shrill yelps (never heard him scream so loudly like that) and hoped about 50 feet on three legs right to me. He stood at my feet and held his rear leg up for a bit and would not put weight on it. I felt up and down his leg, and he did not flinch in pain which I thought was a good sign. He then put his leg down and began to try and walk around. He was limping real bad at first but quickly started to walk better so I decided to try and let him walk it off for a bit. After about 2 minutes of trying to walk it off, he was still limping pretty good so I scouped him up, carried him out of the park, and walked while carrying him for about 3 blocks because I could not get a cab (Lallapalooza in town so city is nuts). He is home and now walking much better, but still with a slight limp. He is on restricted duty with no running through the weekend, and if he is still bothered by it on Monday we will make a visit to the vet. He once had this happen before with his front paw and recovered within day or so on his own so I am hopeful for the same here, but unfortunately I would say that this time it seemed worse in that I could see his leg twist funny, and he reacted in a lot more pain. Fingers crossed nothing major.
