Rugby Rugby Rugby Another sad evening at CRFC ground Yesterday was a another sad evening in crfc ground because of the poor refereeing to St Johns Nugegoda and St Bebedicts Kotahena rugby match there is no straight video evidence to proof this calms to this writer but the hundreds of spectators know acutely what happened including two school teams . Srl Lanka referees society or association may has long history and has provided some top class referee to our nation but association must rethink about there current member of referees as there standard very poor or they must be deliberately supporting one team for some benefits or hidden friendship know to them therefore association must train them properly and mean time keep a eye on them too. Referee and two touch judges must give hundred present to the match its not easy to officiate match official provide a great service and deserve support its very important always remember the sprit of the rules of rugby we all do mistakes as we are all humans. But yesterday we notice continuously mistakes done by the referee we suspect its not a basic human error he deliberately support one team that’s St Benadict Kotahena when ever small the mistake or foul done by St Johns Nugegoda he strait away gave a penalty or free kick to St Bnenadict but when St Benedict done a mistake or foul he just ignore it . That’s very bad in front of the grand stand there was a open forward pass by St Benadict but he ignore it that was witness by every one with the papare cameraman or reporter too and then in the second half there was try scored by St John’s under the post but dined by the referee if that try was awarded match result is deferent as St John’s was lost by four points and want to mention in league match St John’s Nugegoda beat St Benadict in bigger margin not only the referee even one touch judge too made a mistake this too in front of grand stand a player was puss to the touch but before he was puss he pass ball to playing area but for no reason he held flag up as we know the rule ball must go out with the player or with out the player then only you can call it as line out but according to this touch judges if player goes out it’s a line out Depend on the level of the game and the skills of the players the laws of game of rugby football have been written to cover every unfair eventuality on the field a referee should know all the laws of the game along with touch judges No point keep on writing more association must do smoothing to avoid this in further this is not the first match it happen or spectators will take the law into there hand very soon if its go like this By Leslie Herbert Wijesinghe
