Rules of the Dojo 1: Judo is for defense ONLY! 2: First learn rule #1. 3: Respect for the Sensei and fellow Judo-ka is NOT an option. 4: Shoes, food or drink will NOT be taken on to the tatami. ... 5: There is NO swearing on the tatami OR in the Dojo. 6: Randori, ne-waza, and shiai are the only accepted forms of fighting allowed in the Dojo. 7: When the Sensei or other instructor is talking, YOU DO NOT! 8: When you are being shown how to do a technique, you will show respect by being quiet, paying attention and watching closely. 9: Footwear is to be left at the edge of the tatami. 10: When leaving the tatami, you will cover your feet – UNLESS it is an emergency. 11: Finger and toenails must be kept trim and long hair tied back. 12: Personal hygiene will be of a satisfactory level, this includes the care and maintenance of your judo-gi. 13: If you are having problems with other club members, inform the instructor and THEY will sort it out! 14: The Sensei is ALWAYS right! 15: In the event the Sensei may be in error, refer to rule #14.
