Run And Tell It Mark 5:14-20 - So those who fed the swine fled, and they told it in the city and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that had happened. Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid. And those who saw it told them how it happened to him who had been demon-possessed, and about the swine. Then they began to plead with Him to depart from their region. And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him. However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.” And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled. When Jesus went to the country of Gadarenes, He encountered a man who was possessed with a spirit. As soon as the man saw Jesus, he ran to Him and worshiped Him. I would contend that it was the evil spirit in the man that recognize Jesus. The enemy can’t help but to acknowledge the presence of Jesus. Luke 4:33-34 says, “Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are---the Holy One of God!’” The enemy will recognize the presence of Jesus before we do (let that marinate). So Jesus called out the spirit in the demon-possessed man and even asked its name. The spirit said this his name was Legion, for we are many. Legion knew the Power that stood before him because he began begging for mercy sort of speak. Jesus cast the spirit out of the man into swine that ran violently and ended up drowning in the sea. The man, who was now in his right mind, wanted to stay with Jesus but Jesus did not permit him to go. Jesus commanded the man to go and tell his friends of what took place. By definition, testimony can be defined as a public profession of a religious experience. The formerly demon-possessed man had a testimony and Jesus wanted him to share it with others. There is power in a testimony. Your testimony tells others about what you have endured! Your testimony tells others how you were able to smile through the storm! Your testimony tells others how you were able to dance in the rain! Your testimony tells others that if God did it for you, He will do it for them too! You can be a blessing to someone by telling them how you were blessed in your weakest moment! You can be an inspiration to someone by telling them your story which just may be their story too! God can use you to give someone strength to keep pressing just by hearing your testimony! Being ashamed to tell your testimony is saying that you are ashamed of what God has done for you or your lack of appreciation for what He has done for you (really let that marinade). You never know who needs to hear your testimony! You never know who will be blessed by your testimony! You never know the blessing “you” could receive by sharing your testimony! Don’t keep your testimony to yourself. Run and tell it!!!
