Run To Obtain Categories: Daily Devotional “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one recieveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain”. 1 Corinthians 9:24 KJV If your desire is to reach your set goals in life, then there is a way you should conduct yourself. Success is not an accident. Everyone that has succeeded in anything applied himself to certain discipline. Apostle Paul gave us insight into the lifestyle that ensured his success as an Apostle. In verses 20-21 of the I Corinthians chapter 9, he said “To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some”. Apostle Paul made a choice because he wanted to reach his goal. Having met the Lord on the road to Damascus, he decided to discipline himself. He positioned himself to go through certain things. He made a choice of certain consideration for himself. He didn’t want to be in the company of those who will preach the gospel to others and in the end, when the roll will be called, he will not be there. What a tragedy that someone will be in church Tuesday, Friday and Sunday and be involved in different activities in the church and finally the Lord will say “ I never knew you”. Beloved, let’s not live carelessly. Run to obtain eternity. Run to obtain your set goals. Conduct yourself in such a way that you will get your reward. Remember, in this world people run for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades but the believer’s prize is an incorruptible crown so decide to pay the price, discipline yourself and run to obtain this crown. As you run your Christian race, stay focused on the goal. Hebrews 12:1-2 says “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. I declare to you today that you will not be distracted neither will you be deceived. You will never lose your reward in Jesus name. Further reading: 1 Corinthians 9:1-27.
