Run up check complete, instruments set push in the throttle and work the pedal a little bit to line up on the center line. One last glance at the wind sock as you announce your departure and shove the throttle full forward as you release the brakes, hold in right rudder as you build up some speed, ease the stick back just a bit and suddenly you just float off of the ground. Establish your best rate of climb speed as you cross the river, turn left through a gap in the mountains climbing through 1,500 msl and keep right on climbing, there is a mountain between you and the runway, a highway and a race track fly by beneath. Below you, lush green mountains for the most part, as far as you can see yo become one on the horizon with a big blue sky and a few puffy white clouds. Level off, trim set, power back, talk on the radio now and then and proceed on course to wherever your heart desires. To heck with what the credit card company ads say, THAT folks, is freedom!
