Running Tidbit of the Day - After two years, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon in St. Petersburg is canceled, according to an announcement posted by race organizers. The race was scheduled for Feb. 9, 2014 in downtown St. Petersburg. "After a careful evaluation, we have made the difficult business decision to cancel the 2014 Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Pete Half Marathon," according to the release. Organizers said they will now just focus on running the Women’s Running Half Marathon and the TriRock Clearwater Triathlon. If you register for a race that is put on by a for profit entity like The Competitor Group (Rock N Roll half marathons & marathons), be aware that the bottom line is their wallet, NOT the sport of distance running, community, or being charitable. Do yourself a favor and register for events that are about running and/or helping a worthwhile cause.
