Running in West Texas- cruising along, trying not to think about how hot it was already this morning, watching for cars, hoping for a good song to come up...something told me to look down...a SNAKE...fortunately someone had run over part of it very recently so it was just wriggling but stuck to the road. I jumped at least two feet ( it was probably two inches :)). Then about .25 miles later, I noticed a dark blur by my left foot...a tall jack rabbit was running along with me. A classic tortoise and hare moment. I saw Roger Masters cycling by- must be training for the MS 150 next weekend.
