Rupert has convinced me that we should pursue a VGS (or, what were calling a VVGS - Veteran VGS ;) ). We are back at the obedience club after a long absence, and he met some sheep last Sunday to test his herding instinct. He did very well, but my herding friend mentioned that sometimes an obedience dog will hold back with stock because hes looking to the handler for direction - or conditioned to stay with the handler - rather than just going out and doing what hes called to do. Thoughts? Has anyone seen confusion in a herding Swissy due to training in obedience or drafting?
