Rural Appalachian Youth Alliance Back to School event Sunday August 11 at 2 pm 18 N. College St Athens OH RAYA and Athens Ohio Area PFLAG are hosting a back to school event that includes youth generated strategies and survival tips to navigate bullying and other types of scenarios they may encounter when returning to school. RAYA, the Rural Appalachian Youth Alliance, is a newly forming multi-county youth alliance that offers Rural Appalachian LGBTQ youth and their friends, siblings and straight allies a SAFE SPACE to meet for friendship, fun and youth-to-youth support. RAYA meets at 2 pm the second Sunday each month. RAYA is open to youth ages 18 and under. Committed volunteers with Athens Ohio Area PFLAG helped to create RAYA to provide rural Appalachian youth a supportive peer network. Contact athensohioareapflag@gmail for more information.
