Russia Falsifies the Sukhoi Su-25 Jet Characteristics in Wikipedia to Support its Case As Russian Defense Ministry stated on July 21, “shortly before downing the Malaysian Boeing 777 near Donetsk, there was a fighter jet detected next to it, which could not be identified. It was possible to detect the jet only after it started gaining height as the observation was carried out with equipment unable to plot aircrafts at a height of less than five kilometers”. According to Lieutenant-General Andrey Kartapolov, head of operations control of Russian General Staff, performance characteristics of this jet allowed it to reach briefly a height of ten thousand meters. The service ceiling for the Sukhoi Su-25 is seven thousand meters, and the height of the real combat use is five thousand meters. As soon as the General Staff of the Russian Ministry of Defense announced at the press conference that the Ukrainian Su-25 “was following the Malaysian Boeing 777”, someone immediately began to adjust jet’s specifications in Wikipedia, driving them to the version of Russian General Staff. In fact, the maximum height of combat use for the Sukhoi Su-25 does not match the Russian version of the catastrophe. Such falsification on the Wikipedia page is a direct proof of Russian propaganda descending to falsehood openly. Later the Sukhoi Su-25 specifications were changed back to avoid misleading. Russian military experts on aircraft complex also do not agree with the official version of the Defense Ministry of Russia, claiming that the Sukhoi Su-25 is an “attack plane intended for targeting objects on the ground and not in the air.”
