Russia is planning to hold talks with Egyptian officials next month, over the latter’s planned purchase of MiG-35 fighter jets, Russian news agency ITAR-TASS reported on Monday. “The Egyptian representatives visited our corporation and tested our jets. We hope that we will be invited to technical talks next month,” Director of Russia’s Aircraft Corporation MiG Sergei Korotkov said. Last week, the Russian business newspaper Vedomosti reported that the agency of defence-related technologies and services “Rosoboronexport” have signed a $500 million deal with the Egyptian Ministry of Defence, to provide Egypt with a S-300VM “Antey-2500″ highly advanced air defence system by the end of this year. Recently, Russia and Egypt have signed arms contracts worth $3.5 billion, head of Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, Alexander Fomin, told RIA Novosti. In August, President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi met with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in the town of Sochi, where they discussed economic, military and technical cooperation between Egypt and Russia. Egyptian-Russian bilateral relations have witnessed remarkable progress since the Egyptian revolution of 2013. On the contrary, Egyptian-American military relations remain unclear, as the latter is still imposing a ban on 10 F-16`s fighter jets, which were planned for delivery to Egypt by the end of the year. #Mublify
